Supertext’s secure language AI now available in 28 languages

The Swiss online translator beat industry giant DeepL in three out of four language combinations at its launch in February. This unsurpassed translation quality is now available in 28 languages – either in-browser or via the new Supertext API. These languages include Albanian, Croatian and Serbian, which few, if any, AI tools offer. Enterprise customers can also have the new models tailored to their individual requirements.

Supertext’s in-house AI models have learned a few more languages: they now translate into 28 languages using the latest LLM technology, and they’re perfectly suited to any industry thanks to helpful features such as varied formality levels and a rewording function. Another new feature is the integrated glossary, which allows users to automatically incorporate their preferred terminology into every AI translation.

More languages, more precision, more reach

All available languages now run on the latest generation of an extensively trained large language model (LLM). A total of 14 trillion tokens went into basic training for the 28 languages, followed by specialised fine-tuning with selected data for each individual language. During this process, around 6 million additional high-quality segments were integrated into the language models in order to further improve domain-specific accuracy.

The benefits for users are clear:

Supertext enables more precise AI translations that perform significantly better than the competition in a direct comparison, especially for continuous text. Or in other words, when translation quality matters most for everyday work.
The models also take into account language-related characteristics such as regional variants, complex grammatical structures and different writing systems like the Cyrillic alphabet. This is made possible by targeted data preparation and quality assurance.
The systems guarantee maximum data security thanks to hosting exclusively on Swiss servers, encrypted transmission and compliance with all requirements of the GDPR (EU) and FADP (Switzerland).
With the new Supertext API, companies can integrate Supertext’s language technology directly into their programs and translate entire e-commerce stores, websites and apps in no time at all.

Multi-dimensional model testing

Thanks to its in-house experts in machine learning, engineering and linguistics, Supertext is able to keep model production entirely in house, from development and training to evaluation and linguistic testing. Each new version of the AI engine undergoes a multi-stage review:

• Optimised filter processes eliminate unusable or duplicated content as early as the pre-training stage.
• Various evaluation metrics continuously measure and score model quality.
• Extensive testing by experienced linguists ensures that our models are grammatically correct, stylistically precise and context-sensitive.

Tailored AI performs measurably better

Supertext’s Enterprise clients can also have the language models trained specifically on their corporate language using existing translations and guidelines. According to studies conducted by various Supertext clients, these customised systems generate up to twice as many ready-to-print translations.
